Which Rico dry iron should I choose – AI11, AI13 or AI14?
All three are heavy automatic dry irons with a golden soleplate. The AI11 is 1.5 kg and 1000 W, the lightest of the three. The AI13 is 2 kg and 1000 W, for extra pressing weight on cottons and linens. The AI14 is 2 kg and 1200 W, the most powerful.
What is the difference between a dry iron and a steam iron?
A dry iron has no water tank and presses with heat and weight only, so there is nothing to fill or descale. A steam iron adds steam to relax fibres. A heavy dry iron is a good choice for daily cotton ironing.
What does "automatic" mean on this iron?
A thermostat switches the heating off when the soleplate reaches the temperature you set, and back on as it cools, so the iron holds the right heat for your fabric.
How much electricity does the AI13 use?
It is rated at 1000 watts, so at most about 1 unit per hour while heating. The thermostat cycles the heat, so real use is usually lower.
