Frequently asked questions
How much electricity does the IR2514 use?
It is rated at 2000 watts, so it uses about 2 units of electricity per hour of use. Heating for 20 minutes uses about 0.67 unit.
How long does the IR2514 take to heat a bucket of water?
It depends on how much water you heat and how cold it is to start with. A higher-wattage rod heats the same bucket faster. Check the water by hand only after switching off and unplugging.
Is a shockproof immersion rod completely safe to touch while on?
No. The shockproof design adds protection, but you should never touch the water or the rod while it is switched on. Always switch off and unplug first.
Can I use the immersion rod in a steel or metal bucket?
No. Use a plastic bucket. Switch off and unplug before you touch the water.
Which Rico immersion rod should I buy – 1000W, 1500W or 2000W?
Higher wattage heats water faster but uses more electricity per hour. The 1000W IR1410 suits small families and one bucket at a time; the 1500W IR1412 is a good all-rounder for most families; the 2000W IR2514 is for larger buckets or when you want hot water fastest. If you want automatic temperature control, choose the IR2309, which has a built-in thermostat.
What warranty does the IR2514 come with?
A 2-year replacement warranty from Rico.
